BSN 2021 Special Sessions

Deadline for proposal submission: April 4, 2021

The 17th IEEE International Conference on Wearable and Implantable Body Sensor Networks (BSN2021) is sponsored by IEEE-EMBS to address the challenges in the emerging sensor medical/healthcare systems and networks. BSN2021 will be co-organized with the BHI2021 (IEEE International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics). The joint program (BHI-BSN) will have world-renowned speakers from academic and research institutes, government agencies, and industry.

Body sensor networks provide innovative ways to improve treatment outcomes and patients’ comfort. They offer novel ways to measure physiology, behavior observations from users. Leveraging innovative systems, communication modules, on-chip and off-line data processing and modeling, these measurements are turned into actionable information. Closed-loop BSN with therapeutic systems and interventional functions are becoming a reality.

Authors are invited to submit full papers (4 Pages) and demo/poster abstracts (1 Page) presenting cutting-edge research related to the theory and/or practice of wearable, ingestible and implantable sensors and systems in the healthcare/medical domains. Selected papers will be invited to submit to a special series that will be published in the IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology https://www.embs.org/ojemb/. All submissions must describe original research that is not published or currently under review elsewhere.

Proposals for Special Sessions

Special sessions within BSN 2021 will feature invited talks from leading researchers covering recent progresses on a specialized topic correlated to the following BSN topics (not limited to): Prototyping of body-worn, ingestible and implantable sensor networks; Novel chemical, biological and textile body sensors; Flexible and/or stretchable electronic sensors and systems; Ultra-low-power or battery-less solutions for longitudinal studies; Machine learning, deep learning and decision support algorithms; Body area communication protocols, models and theories; Security, privacy and trust in body sensor network; and Medical/wellness applications from pre-natal health to elderly care.

A typical special session will consist of 6 invited talks and will be scheduled under a Conference Theme and Track with a 90 minute time slot during the conference. Each invited paper will have a 12 minutes oral presentation slot, while a panel discussion on all presented papers will take place at the end of the session. All submissions of invited talks in special sessions will be required to follow the 1-page abstract format and will not be included in the IEEE Xplore Conference Proceedings. There is no requirement for full-length papers submission, but authors interested in publishing their paper in the Conference Proceedings, may submit, in addition to their 1-page abstract, a 4-page paper, following the corresponding guidelines and deadline for full-length paper submission.

Proposal Submission

Please submit your special session proposal by April 4, 2021 to EDAS system: https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=27988&track=104578.

Submission steps using EDAS Submission System

Please login to EDAS at https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=27988&track=104578 and follow the steps below:

1. Select the “Special Session Proposals” track.
2. Type in the title of the proposal. Then select the topic area your proposal falls under best.
3. Click the Submit button.
4. Add all authors of the proposal (each author must have an EDAS account)
5. The next page you see will have a large green check mark and a statement that the extended abstract was registered.
